Here’s What Needs to be in Your E-Learning Portfolio

If you are trying to determine how to create those demos or what types to do, take a look at the weekly e-learning challenges. There’s a whole lot of plenty and variety . Any one of them would make a module to have in your portfolio.

The challenge for many is is proprietary and we can not reveal what we know. You want to make a sample modules which demonstrate your skills and get the attention of the person, if that’s the case. And let’s face it, some of the jobs that we get stuck on at work aren’t things we want to show anyway.

Here’s a bonus tip: people are drawn to the visual layout more so than they are into the instructional design. You want your portfolio.

Free E-Learning Resources

The portfolio is your evidence of skills. It shows that you’ve got more than a resume list of education and experience. It documents a number of your projects and shows your skills.
Have you got an e-learning portfolio? If so, what sort of content do you have in yours?

• Assessments. Quizzes are the most common element in courses. Create a few different types of assessments. The default option, blocky-type quizzes are fine, but you want to display more than copy and paste skills. Make the quizzes appear different and change the default settings. The habit you can make them, the better.
• Scenarios. Interactive scenarios are popular. They are more fun than click-and-read content and they show how to develop training that mirrors real-world interactions. No one wants to look at 60 slides of the identical content. Instead showcase mini pull on some of the interactions out of the 60 slide program, or interactions. There are three main ways to interact with the screen: click, hover, and drag. Build. Lean more than clicking people like to move things and because it is novel, on dragging. Organizations do some sort of software training. Show your skills building applications training. Add a screencast video as well as an interactive software simulation.
• Make it interesting. Most e-learning isn’t very good and usually very boring. Convert one of those types of courses into something interesting. Make it look good and make it. Show a before and after version of your course/module.
