Pupils Yolanda Ambrosio Barrientos and Sandra Reyes talked about their experiences in HEP and CAMP. Barrientos came in the U.S. without a high school diploma and not speaking English. She was subjected to domestic abuse in her marriage even though a migrant farmworker. But, Barrientos persevered and earned her high school equivalency diploma under HEP at Wake Tech Community College in North Carolina.
If you are a high school student in rural America, it is not always easy to get to school. You might have to travel in town. But what if you reside in a rural area and need to travel with your family to go to work on a farm? How do you get to school? Could you go to school?
