Who is it for? Google’s Generation Google Scholarship is for current college students or high school seniors headed to school. Google says it wants to “help aspiring computer scientists excel in technology and become leaders in the field.” The scholarship is for groups in computer science: African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, or Filipino/Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders.

Amount: Apple HBCU Scholars receive a need-based scholarship to help cover their final year of school. They participate in a 12-week internship at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, Calif., and receive career coaching from Apple employees.
You’ve certainly provided companies like Google enough of your time over time, making their sites your first stops online, with their programs religiously, eagerly awaiting their hottest devices. It’s time that they gave you a little something.
Special requirements: You must maintain a GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 or 4.0 out of 5.0.

If you hope to be the next Jobs or Zuckerberg, you think in bits and bytes, and you dream of the potential to change the world, check out these corporate scholarships of technology.
Special requirements: Scholars should use Apple technology (MacBooks, iPhones, etc.) and be prepared to function as Apple Ambassadors during their final year of college.

Who is it for? Since 1991, Toshiba and the National Science Teachers Association have conducted a continent-spanning competition focused on facing real-world difficulties with STEM-based solutions. Directed by teacher coaches, students work to extrapolate modern technology 20 years into the future. The competition is segmented into age-group classes, from kindergarten through high school.
Google says it’s going to post more information this fall.
Deadline: The deadline for 2017 funding passed in January. The 2018 program window will open in the autumn.

The reality is, tech companies that are innovative fund college scholarships for more reasons than to reward users. Some of Silicon Valley’s hottest firms make it their mission to nurture the next generation of leaders. They understand that it is people, not technician, their success is driven by that.
Who is it for? The makers of Photoshop, InDesign, and other creative software offer a scholarship for women studying computer science. This scholarship is for current college students.

Special requirements: In addition to answering essay questions, applicants are encouraged to submit “an optional 60-second video or multimedia submission describing your dream career.”
Amount: First prize is a $10,000 savings bond to help pay for college. Regional winners and finalists receive gifts and prizes, also.

How cool would it be if Google footed the bill (or some of it, anyway) for your college education?
Amount: $10,000, a Creative Cloud subscription, an Adobe Research mentor, and the opportunity to interview for a job with Adobe Research.
Who is it for? Tech giant Microsoft awards this scholarship to current college students majoring in STEM fields due to their “demonstrated passion for technology, academic excellence, and leadership while working to push the software industry forward.” Microsoft says it prioritizes applicants who demonstrate leadership promoting diversity in the STEM fields.
Amount: $10,000 for one school year.

Who is it for? Hardware innovator Apple’s scholarship is for students in their second-to-last year in a historically black college or university. The program aims STEM students, Apple says, but admits students from all disciplines. The main thing is that a “technical and cultural fit” with the program.
